10th Grade The tenth grade P.E. curriculum is much like that of ninth grade, consisting of one half physical education and one half health. The students will learn classroom driver's education as one half of the health requirement. The tenth grade physical education greatly emphasizes personal fitness. During the second semester, the students develop a personal fitness program. All aspects of fitnes--flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular, and body composition--are studied. The program includes:Self Assessment: The students learn to evaluate the different aspects of fitness and assess
their level of fitness in each area. Goal Setting: Goal setting is an important step of the process. Setting reasonable goals
based on each person's own physical characteristics will help establish
a realistic fitness program. Setting Up A Fitness Plan: Each student will write a personal fitness plan including a warm-up, a cool
down, a muscular strength work out, and a cardiovascular work out. The final aspect of the curriculum is to implement the plan. Once the plan has been implemented a consistent assessment needs to be made to be sure the goals are reached. |
